Couple who tortured their child face abuse charges
Speaking on Tuesday the LSAC executive director Advocate Ostack Mligo said they also managed to arrest the step mother who collaborated with the father in the abuse. The family resides in Songambele ward in Musoma municipality. He named the suspects as Charles Nyamuhanga and his wife Ms Mokasi.
Musoma. Police in Mara region in collaboration with Legal and Social Assistance Center (LSAC) has arrested a man who allegedlyhanged his 9-year old daughter on the house ceiling for five days.
Speaking on Tuesday the LSAC executive director Advocate Ostack Mligo said they also managed to arrest the step mother who collaborated with the father in the abuse. The family resides in Songambele ward in Musoma municipality. He named the suspects as Charles Nyamuhanga and his wife Ms Mokasi.
Mr Nyamuhanga roped his daughter’s hands, hanging her on the ceiling after she refused to go harvest maize with her step mother. They would untie the child, give her food and then tie her again in the morning. The child’s arms were wounded when untied.
Mr Mligo said that his center was condemning what happened, adding that it was against human rights and national and international laws concerning to human rights whereby they said such kind of incidents should be ended in the community so that children can live happily.
He asked for members of the community to report cases of domestic violence when they occur. Mara regional police commander could not be reached for comments.
