KIDATU - KILOMBERO ROAD FOR UPGRADING
Dar es Salaam. Government has signed a Sh101 billion grant, money which will be used to upgrade Kidatu - Ifakara road.
Deputy Permanent Secretary, in the ministry of Finance and Planning, Ms Amina Shaaban said during the signing that the improvement of the road would ensure residents at the area get reliable infrastructure.
She said on Friday that the grant has been extended by UkAid, European Union and United States Agency Development (Usaid).
She noted that upgrading of the 67km road and the great Ruaha Bridge was a big boost to the government's Southern Agriculture Growth Corridor (Sagcot) initiative.
“The initiative will significantly improve access to markets for farmers in the Kilombero valley and stimulate greater investment in agriculture and agro processing," she said.
Speaking on behalf of granters, head of delegation of the European Union in Tanzania, Roeland Van Geer, said the three organisations were committed to fully support transport sector in Tanzania.
