THREE THINGS YOU MUST NOT DO WHEN YOU ARE FIRED

Just remember as difficult as it may seem to keep calm, now is not the time to fall apart

It’s a scary moment when your employer hands you an envelope and says “I am sorry your services are no longer required.” When in panic, you can hardly think straight. But it is important to know what not to do when you lose your job. Here are what you must never do when you get laid off.

Badmouthing your employer: Yes, they may have been completely out of line to have fired you, yet you were the most productive employee.

But badmouthing your employer especially to your prospective employers show how bitter you are and no one likes bitter people to work in their organisation.

Blame Game: Accept and move on. When that letter lands on your hands, the last thing you want to do is begin to blame your section head for your low performance reviews.

That doesn’t mean that you were unfairly terminated. If you feel your termination violated a law, go ahead and hire an employment attorney, but then let your attorney handle it.

Don’t make a scene when you leave the employer’s premises: Losing a job certainly comes as a shock to many.

We often wish it doesn’t happen to us. But when it does, not knowing where your next paycheck will be coming from, can take you on an emotional roller coaster.

Just remember as difficult as it may seem to keep calm, now is not the time to fall apart either. Assemble your belongings peacefully. Leave the building quickly.

You’re going to need a reference, so shrieking at your boss for firing you is a bad idea
