Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience managing technical teams and field operations for effective, inclusive outreach to project participants and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with governmental institutions and NGOs to facilitate project implementation.
  • Experience in Tanzania and/or the East Africa strongly preferred

Sr. M&E Officer is responsible for documenting and disseminating program successes and challenges to DFATD.   Sr. M&E Officer will also be responsible for designing and conducting operations research.  This position will be based in Mwanza, Tanzania Program Overview With the ultimate goal to improve the health and well-being of women and children in the Lake and Western zones of the United Republic of Tanzania, The Canadian Government (DFATD)-funded More and Better Midwives for Rural Tanzania (MBM-RTz) initiative will make significant contributions to ensuring that women and children in these areas have greater access to skilled midwifery care now and in the future. From 2016-2021, Jhpiego and its partners, Amref Health Africa in Canada (Amref) and the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM), will support the Tanzania Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (henceforth referred to as MOH) to fulfill national priorities for maternal and newborn survival and address inadequate numbers and inequitable distribution of human resources of health for midwifery care.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP) to capture project performance and results, including routine service delivery data reporting, baseline and endline assessments, and all monitoring for process and outcome evaluations
  • Develop and oversee data flow pattern for MBM-RTz that will ensure timely data collection and reporting
  • Lead results reporting to DFATD by providing written documentation on M&E activities and indicator results for progress and annual reports, as appropriate
  • Provide leadership and direction on M&E to ensure the MBM-RTz technical and financial integrity to achieve MBM-RTz and corresponding objectives and targets
  • Ensure high-quality implementation, consistent with Tanzanian national health guidelines, protocols, information and reporting systems

Role overview The volunteer will work in the Accelerated Care and Treatment for Mothers and Newborn (ACT) project which aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in Lindi and Mtwara regions of Tanzania. The volunteer will work in close collaboration with the regional health management team (RHMT), Council heath Management Team (CHMT) and hospital management teams to train coach and mentor midwives and assistant medical officers working at the Reproductive and child health clinics on use of the portable ultrasound (Vscan). The volunteer will be responsible for on the job training, coaching and mentoring of the midwives in 7 district hospitals in Lindi and Mtwara region. Skills, qualifications and experience required Qualified medical professional, specialized in radiology.

 Allowance and accommodation All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency.
